The Monti Prenestini

 Lights, camera, action!

Directors of the 1950s and 1960s such as Comencini and Dino Risi loved this place so much that they regularly came to shoot their movies here. Thus far, nothing seems to have changed. The voices of the Marshal Vittorio De Sica and the Bersagliera Gina Lollobrigida can still be heard echoing in Castel San Pietro Romano, location of “Bread, Love and Dreams”. It is no coincidence that panels with frames from their films are still scattered around the historic center. Castel San Pietro Romano is a true gem that offers magnificent views and local specialties, such as the Giglietto, a delicious Slow Food Presidium product!

Be a cowboy or cowgirl for a day

How about riding on a horse on endless meadows and living a day as a cowboy or cowgirl? The wild mountain ridge, spanning from Capranica Prenestina to the hamlet of Guadagnolo, was being used as a film set by several spaghetti western directors when the genre boomed in the 1960s and 1970s! Even today you can come across grazing herds, horses and calves. Look out, some “redskins” may be lurking around! Are you hungry after walking or riding at over 1,000 meters? Pack your own picnic in one of the many barbecue areas amidst the greenery or try out local food in typical restaurants!
